Integrated sustainability action plan
Together with you I develop an integrated sustainability action plan with a compelling storyline and implementation roadmap. The plan includes the key environmental and social topics for your business. Think about climate action, nature protection, health, nutrition and/or social impact - aligned with (EU) reporting standards (CSRD, CSDDD). The integrated plan bridges your sustainability ambitions with business operations. It could encompass a double materiality matrix project or the set up of sustainable portfolio steering. The plan will enable you to steer on what matters most, deliver results that strengthen profitability and create a positive environmental and social impact.
Example: At Royal DSM I have led the global development of a holistic sustainability product portfolio steering system 'Brighter Living Solutions'. Innovations and products can be assessed for their measurable environmental, social and health impacts. With this in place, a company can drive its innovation pipeline and portfolio towards better environmental and social impacts. Thematic strategy and positioning
New sustainability themes emerge. You may wish to unpack these themes, benchmark trends in the market, peers and customer presences and unpack new science, to determine what this means for your company. I can support with thematic positioning. This could be a distinct climate (transition) action plan (CTAP), a benchmark and positioning for the company on regenerative agriculture, a deep-dive on social sustainability (human rights, community development) or a biodiversity action plan. I translate the latest science and reports for you, help to determine how this affects your company and where you should or could act upon. From concept to implementation, I help you identify risks and opportunities, develop an impactful positioning and develop clear steps for implementation.
Example: Social sustainability is an important perspective. But how to measure and steer for a better social impact in a business context? Together with Pré Consultants, Philips, L'Oréal, Steelcase, I was a co-founder of the 'Roundtable for Social Impact' to harmonize measurement of social impact at product level (health, working conditions, communities). Engagement and advocay for sustainable value chains
I support you with external engagement with industry and public partners. This can include setting up and leading multi-stakeholder partnerships to accelerate movements for systemic change. Think about food system transformation, climate mitigation and adaptation, a pull for the planetary health diet and a circular economy. In general, the aim is to secure good guardrails, define clear and shared methodologies, come up with stimulating schemes to create a shared level playing field and demand for sustainable, just and healthy products.
Example: FrieslandCampina, Arla, Danone, Rabobank, Royal DSM founded in 2022 the ‘Future Fit Dairy Initiative’ to define 'How future fit European dairy farming looks like' with shared on-farm metrics, inspired by regenerative agriculture, to steer for better environmental impacts and fair incentives. Together, dairy producers, farmers, industry partners en policy makers can steer towards an appealing dairy sector, attractive for farmers, provides for nutritious food and in harmony with nature.
